Broadcasting Decision CRTC 2002-178

Ottawa, 8 July 2002

CHUM Limited
Windsor, Ontario

Application 2002-0434-7

Deadline to commence operations

1.

The Commission approves the application by CHUM Limited for an extension of the time limit to commence operation of four new digital radioprogramming undertakings in Windsor, authorized in New transitional digital radio undertakings at Windsor, Decision CRTC 2000-83, 22 March 2000.

2.

The Commission notes that the current application represents the second request for an extension of time limit to commence operation of these undertakings. The previous request, authorized in Extension of time limit to implement new transitional digital radio programming undertakings, Decision CRTC 2002-28, 12 February 2002, extended the time limit to 21 June 2002.

3.

The licences for these undertakings will be issued once the licensee has informed the Commission in writing that it is prepared to commence operations. These undertakings must be operational no later than 21 June 2003, unless a request for a further extension of time is approved by the Commission before this date. In order to ensure that such a request is processed in a timely manner, it should be submitted in writing at least 60 days before this date.
