Public Notice CRTC 2001-97

Licence amendment for TreeHouse TV

1.

The Commission approves the application to amend the broadcasting licence for the specialty television service TreeHouse TV by amending condition of licence no. 2 with respect to the sharing of programs with the specialty service YTV as follows:

2.a) Except as provided in subsection b), in any month, none of the programs broadcast by the licensee shall be broadcast by the specialty service YTV.

2.b) For the period of 1 December to 31 December in each broadcast year, the licensee may broadcast a maximum of 20 hours of programming from categories 5a), 7 and 11, featuring a Christmas or Chanukah theme, and broadcast on YTV.

2.

In Decision CRTC 2000-448, the Commission authorized the licensee to broadcast up to 10 hours of special holiday programming during the month of December 2000. According to the licensee, the Christmas and Chanukah specials aired in December 2000 were very popular with its viewers, especially among children aged 2 to 5 years. For this reason, the licensee wishes to extend this flexibility to every December of each broadcast year and to expand the number of hours of shared programming that it can make available during this month.

3.

The Commission is satisfied that the amendment approved herein will not alter Treehouse's nature of service.
