Public Notice CRTC 2001-49
dated 8 May 2001

Licence amendment for CFGS-TV Hull

The Commission approves the application to amend the broadcasting licence for the television programming undertaking CFGS-TV Hull, by authorizing the licensee to change the transmitter channel from 49 to 34 and to increase the effective radiated power of its transmitter from 17,600 watts to 117,000 watts.

These amendments will allow CFGS-TV to add 20 kilometres to its coverage and thereby offer its service, namely local and regional information, to the population of distant areas such as Thurso, Rockland, Embrun and Notre-Dame-de-la Salette.

The licensee considers that this project meets the objectives of service to the population and to the commercial clients and helps the station's profitability and adoption of new technologies.

The Commission authorizes the licensee to operate the undertaking on the basis of the contours and particulars resulting from the above-mentioned change.

The Commission acknowledges the intervention submitted in support of this application.
