Licence amendments

The Commission deletes the condition of licence for the above-noted undertaking relieving it of the requirement to distribute CJBR-TV Rimouski. The Commission also relieves the licensee of the requirement to distribute CFTF-TV-4 Forestville.

1.

The Commission approves the application by the cable distribution undertaking serving the above-noted communities seeking to delete the condition of licence relieving the licensee of the requirement of section 32(1)(a) of the Broadcasting Distribution Regulations (the regulations) to distribute CJBR-TV (SRC) Rimouski, a priority local signal, as part of the basic service. The licensee now wishes to distribute CJBR-TV on the basic band.

2.

Télé Inter-Rives ltée and C.K.R.T.-T.V. ltée filed interventions opposing the deletion of the CKRT-TV (SRC) Rivière-du-Loup signal that would result from the distribution of CJBR-TV. In reply to the interveners, the licensee said that since the reception quality of the CJBR-TV signal has greatly improved, it now wishes to comply with the regulations.

3.

The Commission also approves the licensee's request to be relieved of the requirement of the aforementioned section of the regulations to distribute CFTF-TV-4 (TQS) Forestville, a priority local signal. The licensee proposes to distribute instead CFJP-TV (TQS) Montréal, received via satellite, on the basic band.

4.

Télévision MBS inc. filed an intervention opposing the displacement of CFTF-TV-4 by CFJP-TV. In reply, the licensee said the signal reception quality is poor, and that this has been confirmed by the Department of Industry.

5.

The Commission is satisfied with the licensee's replies to the interventions.
