Public Notice CRTC 2000-69
dated 26 May 2000

Licence amendment for CBE and CBE-FM – Addition of a digital radio broadcasting transmitter

1.

The Commission approves the applications to amend the licences for CBE and CBE-FM Windsor, by authorizing the licensee to add a digital radio broadcasting (DRB) transmitter to be located at Windsor.

2.

The CBC will co-site and share the existing DRB facilities at the site of CHUM Limited stations CIMX-FM and CIDR-FM at Windsor, using the EUREKA-147 DAB system in the frequency band 1452 MHz-1492 MHz (L-Band).

3.

The transmitter will operate on frequency 1484.208 MHz (channel 19) with an effective isotropic radiated power of 4,369 watts. The CBC will simulcast, in full, the current programming services of CBE and CBE-FM.

4.

The CBC proposes to study the feasibility of broadcasting six programming services on the same DRB ensemble that carries CIMX-FM, CIDR-FM, CKLW and CKWW. The licensee expects the feasibility studies to be concluded by April 2001. The Commission would like to receive a copy of the report.

5.

The authorities granted herein will remain valid until 31 August 2001, the expiry date of the current licences.
