Decision CRTC 99-499

  Ottawa, 17 November 1999
  Rogers Broadcasting Limited
Sechelt, British Columbia  – 199812566
Application processed by Public Notice CRTC 1999-100 dated 21 June 1999
Licence renewal for CISE-FM and its transmitters
  1. The Commission renews the broadcasting licence for CISE-FM Sechelt and its transmitters CIEG-FM Egmont, CISC-FM Gibsons and CIPN-FM Pender Harbour; from 1 January 2000 to 31 August 2006, subject to the conditions specified in this decision and in the licence to be issued.
  2. CISE-FM operates in a single-station market as set out in Public Notice CRTC 1993-121 entitled Local Programming Policy for FM Radio – Definition of a Single-Station Market. Accordingly, it is exempt from the requirement that, in order to solicit or accept local advertising, one-third of its programming must be local. Nevertheless, the licensee is required, by condition of licence, to continue to broadcast, at a minimum, 2 hours 30 minutes each week of station-produced programming on CISE-FM.
  3. The licensee is authorized, by condition of licence, to broadcast, in any broadcast week, not more than 85% hit material as defined in Public Notice CRTC 1997-42, as amended from time to time.
  4. The Commission notes that this licensee is subject to the Employment Equity Act that came into effect on 24 October 1996 (1996 EEA), and therefore files reports concerning employment equity with Human Resources Development Canada. As a result of a consequential amendment to the Broadcasting Act, the Commission no longer has the authority to apply its employment equity policy to any undertaking that is subject to the 1996 EEA.
