Licence amendment for CTV News 1 |

1. The Commission approves the application by CTV for the national English-language specialty programming undertaking CTV News 1, to amend the condition of licence relating to advertising material by adding the following subsection thereto: |

4.(d) In addition to the twelve minutes of advertising material referred to in subsection (a), the licensee may broadcast partisan political advertising during an election period. |

2. The Specialty Services Regulations, 1990 do not specify a maximum hourly amount of advertising material that licensees of specialty services may broadcast. Instead, advertising limits for such licensees are regulated by condition of licence. The addition of the above-noted subsection will give the licensee the flexibility, during Canadian election periods, to exclude partisan political advertising from the calculation of the amount of advertising that it broadcasts. |
