Application processed by |
Change to licensee's required contribution to a Canadian program production fund |
1. The Commission approves the application to amend the broadcasting licence to carry on a national direct-to-home satellite distribution undertaking by deleting condition of licence no. 7. This condition required the licensee to contribute a minimum of 5% of the gross annual revenues earned by its DTH satellite distribution undertaking, to an existing, independently-administered, Canadian program production fund. |
2. The licensee's obligations for a minimum contribution will be governed by section 44 of the Broadcasting Distribution Regulations (the regulations) which came into effect on 1 January 1998. The regulations require licensees to give at least 80% of their total required contribution to the Canadian Production Fund (CPF), with the possibility of the remainder going either to one or more independent production funds or to the CPF. |
