1. ACROSS CANADA

Application (199902325) by TELETOON CANADA INC., P.O. Box 787, Toronto, Ontario, M5J 2T3, to amend its broadcasting licence to carry a national English- and French-language specialty programming undertaking, by suspending the following conditions of licence, as long as the licensee remains a member in good standing of the Canadian Broadcast Standards Council (CBSC), which requires adherence to the codes noted below.

Conditions of licence:

9. The licensee shall adhere to the guidelines on gender portrayal set out in the Canadian Association of Broadcasters' (CAB) "Sex-role Portrayal Code for Television and Radio Programming", as amended from time to time and approved by the Commission.
|
11. The licensee shall adhere to the guidelines on the depiction of violence in television programming set out in the CAB's "Voluntary Code Regarding Violence in Television Programming", as amended from time to time and approved by the Commission.

Application (199902706) by BELL SATELLITE SERVICES INC., doing business under the name of Bell ExpressVu, to amend the broadcasting licence to carry on a national direct-to-home satellite distribution undertaking by adding a condition of licence allowing the licensee to distribute, on a discretionary basis, the programming service of WNYO-TV (IND/Warner Brothers) Buffalo, New York.

3. ACROSS CANADA

Application (199901393) by BELL SATELLITE SERVICES INC., doing business under the name of Bell ExpressVu, to amend the broadcasting licence to carry on a national direct-to-home satellite distribution undertaking by being relieved of the requirements contained in condition of licence no. 7. That condition relates to its contributions of a minimum of 5% of the gross annual revenues, earned by its DTH satellite distribution undertaking, to an existing, independently-administered, Canadian program production fund.
|
With the deletion of the condition of licence, the undertaking's obligations with respect of its minimum contribution would be governed by section 44 of the Broadcasting Distribution Regulations which came into effect on 1 January 1998. This section requires licensees to give 80% of their total required contribution to the Canadian Production Fund, with the remainder going to one or more independent production funds.

4. NEWMARKET, Ontario
|
Application (199805967) by 1093641 ONTARIO LIMITED to amend the broadcasting licence of the (radio) programming undertaking CKDX-FM Newmarket by increasing the effective radiated power from 500 to 11,300 watts.

The applicant states that this change will significantly improve the coverage of its primary licenced area, York region.
