Decision

Ottawa, 10 September 1998
Decision CRTC 98-428
Canadian Broadcasting Corporation
Toronto and Crystal Beach, Ontario - 199712633
Licence amendment for CBLA-FM
1. Following Public Notice CRTC 1998-63 dated 10 July 1998, the Commission approves the application to amend the broadcasting licence for CBLA-FM Toronto, by changing the frequency of CBLA-FM-1 Crystal Beach from 100.3 MHz, channel 262A, to 90.5 MHz, channel 213A. The effective radiated power will remain unchanged at 319 watts.
2. The Commission hereby authorizes the licensee to operate the undertaking on the basis of the contours and particulars resulting from the above-mentioned changes.
3. These changes are a result of Decision CRTC 97-362 dated 29 July 1997 approving applications by the CBC to convert AM station CBL Toronto to the FM band and to add transmitters at Paris and Crystal Beach. In that decision, the Commission directed the CBC to use a different frequency at Crystal Beach because of possible co-channel interference with CKRZ-FM Ohsweken.
4. The Department of Industry has advised the Commission that this application is conditionally technically acceptable, and that a Broadcasting Certificate will only be issued once it has been determined that the proposed technical parameters will not create any unacceptable interference with aeronautical NAV/COM services.
5. In accordance with subsection 22(1) of the Broadcasting Act, the Commission will only issue the licence amendment, and the authority will only be granted, at such time as written notification is received from the Department of Industry that its technical requirements have been met, and that a Broadcasting Certificate will be issued.
This decision is to be appended to the licence.
