RELATING TO A
PUBLIC HEARING
HULL, QUEBEC
15 JULY 1997, 9:00 A.M.
Further to its Notice of Public Hearing CRTC 1997-5 dated 9 May 1997 relating to its public hearing to be held at the Conference Centre, Phase IV, 140 Promenade du Portage, Hull, Quebec commencing on 15 July 1997, the Commission announces the following:
CHANGES TO THE FOLLOWING ITEMS ARE UNDERLINED

PEMBROKE AND OTTAWA, Ontario
C) Application (199702999) by CHUM LIMITED, 299 Queen Street West, Toronto, Ontario, M5V 2Z5, for authority to acquire the assets and for a broadcasting licence to continue the operation of the (television) programming undertaking CHRO-TV Pembroke and its transmitter CHRO-TV-43 Ottawa, upon surrender of the current licence issued to BBS Ontario Incorporated, under the same terms and conditions as the current licence except as follows:
The applicant has advised that it intends that the existing condition of licence for CHRO-TV relating to required annual levels of Canadian programming expenditures set out in Decision CRTC 96-542 would be replaced by, in the applicant's words:
"The licensee shall expend on Canadian programming, over the course of the licence term, a minimum of 32% of the total advertising revenues earned by the licensee during that period."

The applicant has advised that it intends that the existing condition of licence for CFPL-TV, CKNX-TV and CHWI-TV relating to required annual levels of Canadian programming expenditures would be replaced by, in the applicant's words:
"The licensee shall expend on Canadian programming, on a combined basis, over the course of the licence term, a minimum of 34% of the total advertising revenues earned by the licensee during that period."

PERSONS REQUIRING COMMUNICATIONS SUPPORT SUCH AS ASSISTIVE LISTENING DEVICES AND SIGN LANGUAGE INTERPRETATION ARE REQUESTED TO INFORM THE COMMISSION AT LEAST TWENTY (20) DAYS BEFORE THE COMMENCEMENT OF THE PUBLIC HEARING SO THAT THE NECESSARY ARRANGEMENTS CAN BE MADE.

(  your intervention must clearly identify the application. It must also include clear indication of whether you support or oppose the application, or, if you propose changes to it, include the facts and grounds therefor. In the event that the subject application is brought to the oral phase of the hearing, and should you wish to appear, your intervention must include a request to do so, preferably in the first paragraph of your letter, together with reasons as to why your written submission is not sufficient and why your appearance is necessary. The Commission will inform interveners whether their requests to appear are granted. All written interventions are considered by the Commission when it makes its decisions.
To ensure the effective use of public hearing time, and consistent with the Commission's practice in similar proceedings, it may group the appearance of various interveners to particular applications at the same time.
