Decision

Ottawa, 4 June 1997
Decision CRTC 97-249
Canadian Broadcasting Corporation
Québec, Quebec - 199606084
Licence amendment for CBV-FM
1. Following Public Notice CRTC 1997-37 dated 16 April 1997, the Commission approves the application to amend the broadcasting licence for CBV-FM Québec by amending the authorized contours of the station following the relocation of the transmitter from Île d'Orléans to Mont Bélair.
2. The Commission also approves the licensee's application to decrease the effective radiated power of CBV-FM from 100,000 watts to 24,900 watts.
3. The CBC has indicated that these changes will provide listeners in the region surrounding the city of Québec, particularly in Sainte-Foy, Québec, Sillery and surrounding areas, with a better quality signal.
4. The Department of Industry has advised the Commission that this application is conditionally technically acceptable, and that a Broadcasting Certificate will only be issued once it has been determined that the proposed technical parameters will not create any unacceptable interference with aeronautical NAV/COM services.
5. In accordance with subsection 22(1) of the Broadcasting Act, the Commission will only issue the licence amendment, and the authority will only be granted, at such time as written notification is received from the Department of Industry that its technical requirements have been met, and that a Broadcasting Certificate will be issued.
6. The Commission acknowledges the intervention received with respect to this application.
This decision is to be appended to the licence.
