Licence amendment for Country Music Television (CMT) (formerly New Country Network)

Following Public Notice CRTC 1996-112 dated 15 August 1996, the Commission approves the application by 3247236 Canada Inc., licensee of the national English-language specialty programming undertaking known as Country Music Television (CMT), to amend condition of licence no. 5 pertaining to the distribution of advertising material in order to increase the amount of advertising from the current 8 minutes to a maximum of 10 minutes per hour. The amended condition of licence now reads as follows:

5.(a) Subject to subsection (b) the licensee shall not distribute more than ten minutes of advertising material during each clock hour.

(b) In addition to the ten minutes of advertising material referred to in subsection (a), the licensee may distribute, during each clock hour, a maximum of 30 seconds of additional advertising material that consists of unpaid public service announcements.
|
(c) The licensee shall not distribute any paid advertising material other than paid national advertising material.
|
(d) In addition to the ten minutes of advertising material referred to in subsection (a), the licensee may broadcast partisan political advertising material during an election period.

This decision is to be appended to the licence.
