Decision CRTC 96-637
Vidéotron ltée
Victoriaville, Quebec - 199606828
Licence amendment
Following Public Notice CRTC 1996-81 dated 12 June 1996, the Commission approves the application by Vidéotron ltée for relief from the requirement of paragraph 9(1)(c) of the Cable Television Regulations, 1986 (the regulations) to distribute the priority local service of CKTM-TV (CBC) Trois-Rivières, so long as it continues to distribute CKSH-TV (CBC) Sherbrooke, also a priority local service.
The Commission notes that Cogeco Radio-télévision inc., licensee of CKTM-TV and CKSH-TV, indicated that it was in agreement with the application by Vidéotron ltée. The Commission also notes the results of a survey carried out by the applicant which support its statement that "the population of Victoriaville clearly see CKSH-TV Sherbrooke as the local television station rather than CKTM-TV Trois-Rivières."
The Commission acknowledges three interventions filed in opposition to this application and is satisfied with the applicant's reply thereto.
This decision is to be appended to the licence.
