Licence amendment
Following Public Notice CRTC 1995-92 dated 9 June 1995, the Commission approves the application submitted by Fairchild Television Ltd., licensee of the national Chinese-language specialty programming undertaking, to amend condition of licence no. 3 respecting the exhibition of Canadian programs by redefining prime viewing hours and reducing the attendant percentages of time devoted to Canadian programs. Accordingly, the prime hours of 7:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. become 6:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. and the percentages are reduced from 60% and 40% to 40% and 30% respectively. The amended condition of licence reads:
3. Commencing 1 September 1995 and during each of the last four semesters of its licence term, the licensee shall devote to the broadcast of Canadian programs not less than:
(i) 40% (or a minimum of 14 hours weekly) of the time from 6:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m., and
(ii) 30% (or a minimum of 29 hours weekly) from 6:00 a.m. to midnight.
The Commission acknowledges the intervention opposing this application and is satisfied with the licensee's reply thereto.
