Decision

Ottawa, 11 August 1995
Decision CRTC 95-543
Small Community T.V. Inc.
McLennan, Alberta - 941553000
Licence renewal
Following Public Notice CRTC 1995-37 dated 2 March 1995, the Commission renews the licence held by Small Community T.V. Inc., for the cable distribution undertaking serving McLennan, from 1 September 1995 to 31 August 1999.
The licence term granted herein, while less than the maximum of seven years permitted by the Broadcasting Act, will enable the Commission to consider the next licence renewal of this undertaking at the same time as that of the licensee's other cable distribution undertakings.
The operation of this undertaking is regulated pursuant to Parts I and III of the Cable Television Regulations, 1986 (the regulations) and the licence will be subject to the conditions in effect under the current licence, as well as to those conditions specified in this decision and in the licence to be issued.
Consistent with Decision CRTC 90-715 dated 14 August 1990, the licensee is relieved, by condition of licence, of the requirement of paragraph 22(1)(b) of the regulations that it distribute the regional station CBXAT-2 High Prairie, in view of the inadequate over-the-air reception quality of this signal. The licensee will continue to distribute instead the originating station, CBXAT Grande Prairie.
In Public Notice CRTC 1992-59 dated 1 September 1992 and entitled "Implementation of an Employment Equity Policy", the Commission announced that the employment equity practices of broadcasters would be subject to examination by the Commission. In this regard, the Commission encourages the licensee to consider employment equity issues in its hiring practices and in all other aspects of its management of human resources.

Secretary General
