Decision

Ottawa, 13 April 1995
Decision CRTC 95-150
Kings Kable Limited, doing business under the name and style of Access Cable Television
Kentville and area, Nova Scotia - 942009200
Change to licensed service area
Following Public Notice CRTC 1995-23 dated 15 February 1995, the Commission approves the application to change the licensed area for the cable distribution undertaking serving Kentville and area by including the following areas, representing a total of 68 additional households:
- an area east of Lower Wolfville along Eye Road;
- an area northeast of Port Williams via Starrs Point along Starrs Point Road;
- an area north of Kentville and west of Chipmans Corner along Church Street; and
- an area southwest of White Rock along White Rock Road.
The Commission notes that the proposed additional areas are natural extensions to the licensee's existing authorized service area.
Currently, the licensee serves 98.9% of the households in its authorized service area. The remaining 1.1%, or 73 households, do not have access to municipal sewer and water facilities. As part of this application, the licensee made a commitment to extend service to these 73 households when it begins serving the proposed extended areas.
This approval is subject to the requirement that construction in the extended areas be completed and the extended system be in operation within twelve months of the date of this decision or, where the licensee applies to the Commission within this period and satisfies the Commission that it cannot complete the construction and commence operations throughout the extended system before the expiry of this period and that an extension is in the public interest, within such further period of time as is approved in writing by the Commission.
Should construction not be completed within the twelve-month period stipulated in this decision or, should the Commission refuse to approve an extension requested by the licensee, the authority granted shall lapse and become null and void upon expiry of the period of time granted herein or upon the termination of the last approved extension period.
Allan J. Darling
Secretary General
