Decision

Ottawa, 7 April 1995
Decision CRTC 95-142
Les Entreprises Radio Etchemin Inc.
Lévis, Quebec - 940463300
Licence amendment for CFLS-FM
Following Public Notice CRTC 1994-156 dated 22 December 1994, the Commission approves the application to amend the broadcasting licence for CFLS-FM Lévis by decreasing the effective radiated power from 32,600 watts to 5,315 watts.
The Commission notes that the licensee has relocated its antenna from Lévis to Mont-Bélair, and hereby authorizes the licensee to operate CFLS-FM on the basis of the contours and particulars resulting from this relocation.
The licensee stated that this change will enable it to resolve the poor quality of reception of the station and thus, to adequately reach a greater number of listeners in its market area. The Commission is satisfied that approval of this application should not have any undue negative impact on other existing broadcasting services.
The Department of Industry Science and Technology (DIST) has advised the Commission that this application is conditionally technically acceptable, and that a Broadcasting Certificate will only be issued once it has been determined that the proposed technical parameters will not create any unacceptable interference with aeronautical NAV/COM services.
In accordance with subsection 22(1) of the Broadcasting Act, the Commission will only issue the licence amendment, and the authority granted herein may only be implemented, at such time as written notification is received from the DIST that its technical requirements have been met, and that a Broadcasting Certificate will be issued.
Allan J. Darling
Secretary General
