Replacement of WJBK-TV (CBS) Detroit, Michigan with

| Pursuant to Public Notice CRTC 1994-124 dated 5 October 1994, the Commission approves the application to amend the broadcasting licence to carry on a multiple channel television and radio broadcasting distribution undertaking by replacing WJBK-TV (CBS) Detroit, Michigan with WTOL-TV (CBS) Toledo, Ohio, on the list of signals that Cancom is authorized to distribute. | |
| WJBK-TV has announced that it will change its affiliation to the FOX network in the near future. The proposed licence amendment will enable Cancom to continue to provide CBS network service to its cable affiliates and their customers. | |
| Cancom will continue to be authorized to distribute WJBK-TV until such time as it begins to distribute WTOL-TV. | |
| The Commission notes that a number of Class 1 and Class 2 cable licensees are currently authorized by condition of licence to distribute WJBK-TV received via satellite from Cancom, as part of the basic service. The Commission therefore requests that Cancom, acting as an agent on behalf of all of these licensees, file an application with the Commission, as soon as possible, to amend each licence by deleting the condition of licence authorizing the distribution of WJBK-TV Detroit and by adding a condition of licence authorizing each licensee to distribute WTOL-TV (CBS) Toledo, received via satellite from the Cancom network, as part of the basic service. | |
| In Public Notice CRTC 1994-145 of today's date entitled "Revised Lists of Eligible Satellite Services", the Commission has amended the lists of the Part II and Part III Eligible Satellite Services accordingly. | |
