Decision

Ottawa, 27 October 1994
Decision CRTC 94-828
Câblevision T.R.P. Inc.
Trois-Pistoles, Quebec - 940469000

Licence amendment

Pursuant to Public Notice CRTC 1994-78 dated 8 July 1994, the Commission approves the application to amend the broadcasting licence of the cable distribution undertaking serving Trois-Pistoles by relieving the licensee, by condition of licence, from the requirement of paragraph 22(1)(a) of the Cable Television Regulations, 1986 to distribute CFTF-TV-2 (TQS) Trois-Pistoles, a local signal. The licensee is authorized to distribute, instead, CFJP-TV (TQS) Montréal, received via satellite.
The Commission's decision to grant relief is based on the licensee's argument that the signal of CFTF-TV-2 Trois-Pistoles is of poor quality, as has been confirmed by the Department of Industry, Science and Technology. The Commission notes Câblevision T.R.P. Inc.'s undertaking to work with Télévision MBS Inc., licensee of CFTF-TV-2, with a view to solving this signal's reception problems. The Commission expects the licensee to submit a report, within six months of the date of this decision, outlining any progress made in this regard.
The Commission acknowledges the opposing interventions submitted by Télévision MBS Inc. and by the Quatre-Saisons television network and is satisfied with the licensee's reply to the interventions.
