Decision

Ottawa, 16 March 1993
Decision CRTC 93-94
Taber Cable Television Ltd.
Taber, Alberta - 921523700
Pursuant to Public Notice CRTC 1992-88 dated 22 December 1992, the Commission approves the application by Taber Cable Television Ltd. (Taber Cable) to amend the licence for the cable distribution undertaking serving Taber, by adding a condition of licence allowing the licensee to distribute, at its option, the programming services of WJBK-TV (CBS) and WXYZ-TV (ABC) Detroit, Michigan, received via satellite from the CANCOM network, as part of the basic service.
Currently, the licensee distributes a CBS and an ABC signal received over-the-air, namely KFBB-TV (ABC) and KRTV (CBS) Great Falls, Montana. Since the quality of these signals received over the air is poor, the licensee proposes to replace these signals with the CBS and ABC signals received via satellite from the CANCOM network, as approved herein.
As part of its application, Taber Cable advised the Commission that, due to signal interference, it intends to delete the distribution of the French-language service CBXFT-3 Lethbridge (approved in Decision CRTC 90-292, dated 28 March 1990). Instead, Taber Cable will distribute CBFT Montréal, received via satellite, a priority signal under section 9 of the Cable Television Regulations, 1986. The licensee stated that CBFT, received via satellite, will provide a better quality signal. The Commission acknowledges the intervention submitted by Angela Gardner and is satisfied with the licensee's reply thereto.
Allan J. Darling
Secretary General
