Pursuant to Public Notice CRTC 1991-25 dated 25 February 1991, the Commission approves the application for authority to utilize the frequency of 100.3 MHz (channel 262) at Ottawa, with an effective radiated power of 80,000 watts, to provide the English-language FM radio programming approved in Decision CRTC 89-833 dated 9 November 1989.
The Commission notes that the proposed frequency of 100.3 MHz (channel 262) is currently allocated to Brockville, Ontario and was previously licensed for the CBC station CBOB-FM Brockville.
Following approval of a new FM licence for Ottawa in Decision CRTC 89-835, the CBC surrendered its Brockville FM licence because the new Ottawa station would encompass the area served by CBOB-FM. The present application is predicated upon moving channel 262 from Brockville to Ottawa.
The Department of Communications (DOC) has advised the Commission that this application is conditionally technically acceptable, and that a Broadcasting Certificate will only be issued once it has been determined that the undertaking's proposed technical parameters will not create any unacceptable interference with aeronautical NAV/COM services.
In accordance with paragraph 13(1)(b) of the Broadcasting Act, the Commission will only issue the licence, and the authority granted herein may only be implemented, at such time as written notification is received from the DOC that its technical requirements have been met, and that a Broadcasting Certificate will be issued.
