Decision

Ottawa, 20 October 1989
Decision CRTC 89-806
Shaw Cablesystems (B.C.) Ltd.
Duncan, North Cowichan, Saltair, Quamichan, Cowichan District and Ladysmith, British Columbia - 882146400
Pursuant to Public Notice CRTC 1989-86 dated 21 July 1989, the Commission approves the application by Shaw Cablesystems (B.C.) Ltd. to amend its licence by adding a condition of licence relieving it of the requirement of section 12 of the Cable Television Regulations, 1986 that it distribute the programs of CHEK-TV Victoria on an unrestricted channel of the cable undertaking serving the communities noted above. Should the quality of the signal deteriorate significantly, the licensee will be expected to undertake immediate corrective action such as moving the service to another channel.
The Commission acknowledges the intervention from British Columbia Television Broadcasting System Ltd., licensee of CHAN-TV Vancouver, concerning the distribution of CHAN-TV on identical channels by area cable systems and the licensee's reply thereto.
Fernand Bélisle
Secretary General
