Providing Content in Canada's Official Languages

Please note that the Official Languages Act requires that government publications be available in both official languages.

In order to meet some of the requirements under this Act, the Commission's transcripts will therefore be bilingual as to their covers, the listing of CRTC members and staff attending the hearings, and the table of contents.

However, the aforementioned publication is the recorded verbatim transcript and, as such, is transcribed in either of the official languages, depending on the language spoken by the participant at the hearing.

Opening of Hearing at 11:00 a.m.

Chairperson: Order please.

Good morning and welcome to this hearing of the Commission. My name is Ellen Desmond, I'm the Commissioner for the Atlantic Region and Nunavut and I will chair this hearing. With me on the panel are my colleagues, Joanne Levy, Commissioner for the provinces of Manitoba and Saskatchewan and Nirmala Naidoo, Commissioner for the province of Alberta and the Northwest Territories. Sonia Gravelle will be the Hearing Secretary and Megan Maloney is our Legal Counsel. I invite the Hearing Secretary to present the item on the agenda for today.

Secretary: Thank you.

On 2 November 2022, the Commission published Broadcasting Notice of Consultation CRTC 2022-298. The application referenced in this notice is being considered today without the appearance of the parties.

The Commission has received interventions for the application and they have been placed on the public file for this hearing.

Thank you.

Chairperson: Thank you. Are there any questions from the panel members?

Joanne Levy: No questions.

Nirmala Naidoo: No questions.

Chairperson: I should emphasize that the matters that form part of the Agenda will be given full consideration by the hearing panel and a decision will be released in due course after consultation with the full Commission. This therefore concludes today's hearing. I wish to thank my colleagues, Legal Counsel and the Hearing Secretary for their assistance. The hearing is now adjourned.

Secretary: Thank you.

The hearing adjourned at 11:01 a.m.
