I understand the need for commercial breaks, but ads shown during shows are ruining my TV viewing experience. Can anything be done?

These are known as virtual ads. You’ll need to make complaint directly to your TV service provider. Commercial breaks are the only type of advertising that is addressed in the Broadcasting Act, from which we base all our regulations.

The responsibility for in-show content lies with the broadcasters. It’s up to them to gauge how much virtual advertising their viewers are willing to tolerate. This is why it’s important that you voice your opinion.
