Are all emails or text messages allowed under CASL?
The purpose of Canada’s Anti-Spam Legislation (CASL) is to reduce spam and create a safer online space for Canadians.
CASL was created to counter unsolicited commercial emails and marketing messages sent via text. Non-commercial messages sent by political parties or others are not subject to CASL.
However, if these emails or text messages bother you, don’t hesitate to let the sender know and ask to be removed from their distribution list.
How to report spam
Canadians can report spam to the Spam Reporting Centre. Contact your local law enforcement if you have been threatened, are a victim of a crime, or fear for anyone's safety.
