Subject: Application to disclose certain Annual Facilities Survey data (8000-P114-202404929) - Requests for Extension
This is in response to procedural requests filed by Cybera Inc. and the Government of Alberta. Both parties are requesting an extension of the deadline to submit interventions in the above-mentioned proceeding.
On 8 October 2024, Cybera filed a letter requesting that the deadline be extended to 21 November 2024 or later. It stated that the breadth and complexity of the issues raised could not be adequately addressed within one month. It added that the proceeding covers issues of significant importance to rural, remote and First Nations communities across Canada and that parties need more time to effectively address the issues raised in the proceeding.
On 10 October 2024, the Government of Alberta filed a letter requesting that the deadline be extended to 90 days from the date the Province of British Columbia’s application was posted on the Commission’s website. It stated that there are several non-telecommunications industry stakeholders in Alberta who have a demonstrable interest in this proceeding and that an extension would provide them with sufficient opportunity to submit their comments. It added that these stakeholders may need to involve their members and/or executives as part of a process to gather and approve comments for submission to the Commission.
Given the above, Commission staff agrees that an extension would be appropriate in this case. An extension would provide interested parties with sufficient opportunity to comment and would help build a fulsome record. However, Commission staff also recognizes the importance of ensuring that this proceeding progresses in a timely manner.
Accordingly, the deadlines for the submission of documents in this proceeding are modified as follows:
- Parties must submit their interventions by 29 November 2024.
- Parties must submit their replies by 20 December 2024.
A copy of this letter will be added to the record of the proceeding.
Yours sincerely,
