Subject: Telecommunications Service Provider Compliance with Next Generation 9-1-1 Obligations – Extension Request
Dear recipients,
We are following-up on a request from TELUS Communications Inc. (TELUS), dated 13 June 2024, for an extension to the deadline by which TELUS and other originating network providers are to file reports with respect to their next generation 9-1-1 (NG9-1-1) obligations.
The request from Commission staff was issued on 31 May 2024 to all parties in the distribution list, with a report filing deadline of 14 June 2024.
TELUS indicated that the information requested is complex to provide, requiring collaboration with NG9-1-1 service providers and various vendors, among others. TELUS also indicated that many on TELUS’ NG9-1-1 team attended in-person the CISC Emergency Services Working Group meetings 4-6 June 2024, delaying their ability to compile the information requested. Accordingly, TELUS requested an extension by which TELUS and all other parties would file their reports by 21 June 2024.
Commission staff believes this request from TELUS to be reasonable and extends the deadline by which all parties in the distribution list are to file their reports to 21 June 2024.
