RE:  Canadian Steering Committee on Numbering (CSCN) – Extension request for recommendations to strengthen the number assignment guidelines

We are following-up on your request, dated 3 May 2024, for an extension to the deadline by which CSCN was requested to submit its recommendations to strengthen the number assignment guidelines.

The Commission had made this request in Telecom Regulatory Policy (TRP) 2024-26.

In your letter you indicated that while the CSCN has begun to receive contributions on this matter, further contributions and discussions are required before recommendations can be finalized. You also specified that the CSCN was aiming to file a report shortly after the CSCN’s June plenary meeting.

Having considered your request, the Commission has determined that such an extension would allow the CSCN to provide more complete and effective recommendations, taking into consideration the factors set out in paragraphs 51 and 52 of TRP 2024-26.

Based on the above, the Commission requests that the CSCN provide its recommendations to strengthen the number assignment guidelines as requested in TRP 2024-26 by 26 June 2024.

If you have any questions regarding this issue, please do not hesitate to contact Étienne Robelin at etienne.robelin@crtc.gc.ca or at 873-354-4325.

Yours sincerely,
