Dear Ms. Wood,
In a procedural letter filed with the Commission on 16 November 2023, Canadian Deaf Grassroots Movement (CDGM) requested an extension deadline for all parties filing costs applications similar to the one granted to the Canadian Deaf-Blind Collective (CDBC.VRS) by Commission Staff letter dated 14 November 2023.
On 17 November 2023, both Deaf Wireless Canada Committee (DWCC) and CDBC.VRS filed a procedural response with the Commission.
In the 14 November 2023 Commission staff letter, Commission staff was satisfied that CDBC.VRS is experiencing challenges that will prevent them from filing the cost application by 4 December 2023 and concluded that the additional time requested was reasonable and unlikely to prejudice interested parties. It therefore extended the deadline to 15 January 2024 for CDBC.VRS to file their cost application and for other parties, to file their answers by 25 January 2024.
Commission staff notes that CDGM is not experiencing the same challenges as CDBC.VRS. However, Commission staff notes that CDGM's request is reasonable and unlikely to prejudice any of the other applicants requesting costs. To facilitate the treatment of all cost applications and ensure that potential payors have an overall sense of the possible costs for which they may be responsible, Commission staff is extending the deadline for all parties filing costs applications to 15 January 2024. Parties may file an answer to these costs applications by 25 January 2024.
A copy of this letter and all related correspondence will be added to the public record of the proceeding.
