RE: Bell Canada Tariff Notice 7668 – Destandardization of Residential Foreign Exchange Service – Procedural request

Dear Philippe Gauvin:

On 12 May 2023, the Commission received an application from Bell Canada proposing changes to its General Tariff – Item 1100 - Foreign Exchange Service. The company indicated that it is proposing to destandardize this service for residential customers.

Bell Canada requested that, as an exception to the standard timelines set out in Approval processes for tariff applications and intercarrier agreements, Telecom Information Bulletin CRTC 2010-455-1, 16 February 2016, customers have until 10 July 2023 to submit their comments to the Commission as the company would be mailing customer notification letters by 25 May 2023. Bell Canada submitted that it would file its reply by 20 July 2023.

Commission staff considers that, given that customer notifications would be sent on 25 May 2023, the proposed timeframes are acceptable. Accordingly, customers will have until 10 July 2023 to submit comments on Bell Canada’s proposal. Bell Canada’s reply is due by 20 July 2023.

Yours sincerely,
