Subject: Commission Letter addressed to the First Nation of the Na-Cho Nyak Dun
Dear Ms. Badenhorst,
We are in receipt of your letter dated 19 January 2023, in which the First Nation of the Na-Cho Nyak Dun (a) requested that the Commission extend the deadline for the submission of applications for the third call of the Broadband Fund, and (b) expressed concerns related to aspects of the Broadband Fund policy.
In Telecom Notice of Consultation 2022-325-1, the Commission extended the application deadline for the third call of the Broadband Fund from 18 April 2023 to 16 May 2023 at 17:00, Pacific Standard Time.
In addition, the Commission will launch a review of the Broadband Fund policy in the coming weeks, which will seek input from anyone with an interest in connectivity in rural and remote areas, particularly from Indigenous voices. The Commission acknowledges the concerns raised in your letter, and encourages you to express those concerns in the context of the Broadband Fund policy review so that they can be entered on the record of that proceeding, fully considered by all parties, and help inform the evolution of the Commission’s Broadband Fund.
