Re: Distribution Order for Natyf TV

On 31 August 2023, the Commission published Broadcasting Decision 2023-303 approving an application by NATYF INC. for mandatory distribution of Natyf TV, pursuant to paragraph 9.1(1)(h) of the Broadcasting Act in the province of Quebec, for a period of five years, from 1 September 2023 to 31 August 2028. The Commission also published Broadcasting Order 2023-304, which is set out in the appendix to this decision. The terrestrial and direct-to-home broadcasting distribution undertakings to which this Order applies must distribute the programming service Natyf TV to all subscribers living in the province of Quebec as part of the digital basic service. The Order takes effect 1 September 2023 and will remain in effect until 31 August 2028.

Commission staff has since received communication from a number of distributors operating in the province of Quebec, who have expressed concerns regarding the feasibility of distributing Natyf TV by 1 September 2023, the effective date of the Order.

Commission staff is sensitive to these concerns and asks all parties involved to work in good faith to make the service available as soon as reasonably possible. Commission staff will continue to monitor the implementation of the Order and will remain available to all parties to assist with the effective and timely implementation.

Yours sincerely,
