Question 1

The Commission would like to clarify some information submitted in your applications for the Amendment of Conditions of Licence applicable to CFGQ-FM Calgary and Revocation of Licence for CHQR Calgary, applications 2023-0202-4, 2023-0201-6 and 2023-0203-2.

Commission staff noticed differing information regarding the severability of the applications, namely in form 301 and in the supplementary brief Appendix 1A.

While the application to convert CHQR Calgary into a rebroadcasting transmitter for CFGQ-FM Calgary is clearly tied to the revocation application, is it unclear if the application to amend the licence of CFGQ-FM Calgary to add a condition of licence allowing that more than 50 percent of all programming broadcast during each broadcast week consists of Spoken Word is severable from the other two applications.

In other words, should the Commission deny the application 2023-0201-6 to add an AM rebroadcasting transmitter for CFGQ-FM Calgary, would the applicant still maintain the application 2023-0202-4 requesting a specialty format for CFGQ-FM?

Please confirm the severability of the applications 2023-0201-6 (Application to add an AM rebroadcasting transmitter to CFGQ-FM Calgary) and 2023-0202-4 (Application to amend the licence of CFGQ-FM Calgary to add a condition of licence allowing that more than 50 percent of all programming broadcast during each broadcast week consists of material from Category 1 – Spoken Word).
