Re: Application for costs award with respect to the participation of the Manitoba Coalition in Telecom Tariff Application 0573
Dear Mr. Klassen,
On October 6, 2022, the Commission received an application for costs from the Manitoba Coalition with respect to its participation in Telecom Tariff Application 0573, TELUS Communications Inc (TCI).
The purpose of this letter is to request additional information from the Manitoba Coalition regarding its application for costs.
- Application Letter and Subsequent Forms Inconsistency
In their application letter addressed to the Commission on October 6, 2022, the Manitoba Coalition requested costs totalling $3,783.00. In the additional documentation provided there is a discrepancy between this request and the numbers provided for. Form I claims a legal fee of $5,602.50. Form V claims a legal fee of $2,133.00. The bill of costs submitted for legal fees incurred also totals $5,602.50.
Please advise which is the correct amount claimed and revise the bill of costs if required.
- Claimed expenses
In the document called “Time Sheet”, the following line item was included: Media interview with prep – 1.5 hours.
Please explain how this task can be considered reasonably and necessarily incurred for the purpose of participating in the proceeding, as outlined in Guidelines for the Assessment of Costs, appendix to Telecom Regulatory Policy CRTC 2010-963.
Filing Information with the Commission
The Manitoba Coalition is to provide the information requested above no later than 8 November 2022.
Parties may file a response or an intervention by 14 November 2022. the Manitoba Coalition may reply to any comments received no later than 17 November 2022.
A copy of this letter and all related correspondence will be added to the public record of the proceeding.
