RE: Procedural request – TELUS Communications Inc. request for extension - Amended tariff notices for wholesale roaming service – requests for information
On 29 August 2022, Commission staff sent requests for information regarding the amended tariff notices proposed by Bell Mobility Inc. (Bell Mobility) Tariff Notice (TN) 5/A/B, Rogers Communications Canada Inc. (Rogers) TN 72/A/B and TELUS Communications Inc. (TCI) TN 564/A. The deadline for filing responses was set at 6 September 2022.
On 31 August 2022, TCI submitted a request for an extension of the time for all parties to respond to 20 September 2022, stating that:
- Its regulatory personally are working another matter with a deadline of 9 September 2022, making it difficult to gather and assemble the requested information;
- It is seized of other requests for information from the Commission with responses to be filed in October 2022;
- Planned absences in August and September 2022 for resources responsible for the requested information present a challenge to responding by the deadline; and,
- An extension to 20 September 2022 should not prejudice any party.
On 1 September 2022, Bell Mobility submitted a letter supporting TCI’s request.
Commission staff considers that the additional information requested is not voluminous. It is important for these tariff proceedings to be efficient and expeditious so as to ensure the timely implementation of the changes to the wholesale roaming tariffs that the Commission determined were necessary.Footnote1
Taking the foregoing into account, Commission staff agree that a short extension is reasonable in the circumstances and would not result in undue delay or prejudice.
As such, Bell Mobility, Rogers and TCI are requested to provide their responses to the requests for information by 13 September 2022.
Sincerely,
