RE: TELUS Tariff Notices 567 and 644 - Destandardization of DS-0 and DS-1 Services and Tariff Notice 568 - Destandardization of DS-0 and DS-1 CDN Footnote1 Services –– Request for extension
This is in response to Distributel Communications Limited’s (Distributel) 8 July 2022 letter requesting an extension to the filing date for responses to Commission staff's requests for information (RFIs) related to Tariff Notices (TN) 567, 644 and 568. Distributel asked that the due date for the RFIs responses change from 15 July 2022 to 22 July 2022.
In TN 567, 644 and 568, TELUS Communications Inc. (TELUS) proposed changes to its General Tariffs (CRTC 21461 and 25080) and its Carrier Access Tariff, CRTC 21462, regarding the destandardization of DS-0 and DS-1 Services and of DS-0 and DS-1 CDN Services. On 30 June 2022, Commission staff sought information related to customers, demand, revenues and use of those services.
Distributel indicated that preparing the responses requires the manual compilation of a significant amount of data on an incumbent local exchange carrier (ILEC) by ILEC basis. Distributel submitted that this is a challenging undertaking to complete in a two week period that is made more difficult by summer schedule related resource constraints.
Accordingly, Distributel requested a one week extension to compile the information necessary to respond to the Commission’s RFIs in a fulsome and complete manner. Distributel further requested that this extension to the response deadline be extended to all parties that were issued RFIs to ensure that no party is prejudiced by its request.
On 11 June 2022, the Commission received a letter from TELUS in which the company supported the requested extension, as long as it would be no more than one week.
In the circumstances, staff considers Distributel’s request for an extension to the filing date for responses to RFIs related to TN 567, 644 and 568 to be reasonable. All parties are to file their responses to Commission staff by 22 July 2022.
Sincerely,
