Re : Update on Nunavut Independent Television Network's application for a broadcasting licence to operate the currently exempt national, Indigenous-language discretionary service Uvagut TV as a licensed service, and for the service to be granted mandatory distribution as part of the basic digital service of broadcasting distribution undertakings across Canada
In Broadcasting Notice of Consultation 2022-252, published on 21 September 2022, the Commission announced that it would consider, among other things, an application filed by Nunavut Independent Television Network (NITV) for a broadcasting licence to operate the currently exempt national, Indigenous-language discretionary service Uvagut TV as a licensed service and for mandatory distribution of the service on the digital basic service of broadcasting distribution undertakings across Canada, pursuant to paragraph 9(1)(h) of the Broadcasting Act.
In light of the concerns raised in this proceeding, the Commission has published Broadcasting Notice of Consultation 2022-252-1, announcing the withdrawal of NITV's application from the 10 January 2023 non-appearing hearing. The Commission determined that given the issues raised in the written interventions, it would be more appropriate to consider the application at a future public hearing.
If you wish to update your application, we invite you to submit the additional information by no later than 27 January 2023.
If you do not wish to amend your application, please notify Commission staff in writing by no later than 9 January 2023. In such case, your application in its current form will be considered at the above-noted future public hearing.
Please note that all information provided, with the exception of information for which confidentiality has been requested and granted, will be placed on the public record for the application once that application is published, will be posted on the Commission's website, and will be made available for public examination.
If you need more information regarding this request for information, please do not hesitate to contact Manon Auger, by phone at 819-639-3481 or by email at manon.auger@crtc.gc.ca.
Yours sincerely,
