Re:  Suspension of tariff approval during the December-January holiday period

Dear Madam, Sir:

In Approval processes for tariff applications and intercarrier agreements, Telecom Information Bulletin CRTC 2010-455-1, 19 February 2016 (Telecom Information Bulletin 2010‑455-1), the Commission summarized the procedures that apply to the approval processes for tariff applications and intercarrier agreements. In that bulletin, the Commission reiterated, among other things, that Group B tariff filings would be approved on an interim basis on the 15th calendar day after they are received, unless Commission staff issues a letter indicating otherwise prior to the 15th calendar day.

Commission staff reminds prospective applicants that, under the Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission Rules of Practice and Procedure (Rules of Procedure), the holiday period from 21 December to 7 January is excluded when calculating a time period set out in Telecom Information Bulletin 2010-455-1. For example, if you file a tariff application on 11 December 2020, the fifteenth calendar day would be 13 January 2021 (9 days before 21 December 2020 plus 6 days after 7 January 2021).

Therefore, the latest date by which a Group B tariff application may be submitted in order to be approved on an interim basis (as applicable) without an order, prior to the new year, is 4 December 2020. In addition, any tariff application or intercarrier agreement filed during the holiday period will be processed as though received on 8 January 2021.

Please take these timelines into account as you file tariff applications and intercarrier agreements over the next month.

Sincerely,
