Re: Part 1 Application Seeking Clarification of Telecom Regulatory Policy CRTC 2018-466, Review of the Regulatory Framework For Text-Based Message Relay Services

Dear Madams/Sirs,

On 20 May 2020, a Part 1 Application by Bell Canada and Quebecor Media Inc., on behalf of Videotron Ltd., Rogers Communications Canada Inc., Saskatchewan Telecommunications, Shaw Communications Inc., Tbaytel and TELUS Communications Inc. (collectively, the Applicants) seeking clarification from the Commission regarding paragraph 205 of Telecom Regulatory Policy CRTC 2018-466, Review of the Regulatory Framework For Text-Based Message Relay Services, was filed with the Commission.  The Part 1 Application was placed on hold 1 June 2020 pending the release of a Commission Decision that may address the issues raised by the Applicants.

That Commission Decision was issued today, in the form of a Secretary General Letter.

Accordingly, Commission Staff requests that the Applicants review the Secretary General Letter, a copy of which I am sending you with this letter for your ease of reference, and inform the Commission whether the Applicants wish to continue, modify, or withdraw their Part 1 Application. A response is requested by 18 September 2020.

Once your response is received, the Part 1 Application will be processed as appropriate.

If you have any questions, please contact Albert Xie (albert.xie@crtc.gc.ca).

Yours sincerely,
