Re: Time Extension for Filing Updated CLEC Model Tariff

Dear Mr. Thompson:

In a letter dated January 10, 2020 the Commission requested that the CRTC Interconnection Steering Committee (CISC) Business Process Working Group (BPWG) review and comment updated CLEC Model Tariff documents by April 15, 2020.

Since that time, the world has been engulfed by the COVID-19 pandemic, which is having a dramatic impact on all aspects of Canadian life. With government directives for Canadians to stay home in order to slow the spread of the virus, the volume of traffic has dramatically increased and other changes are being observed, which impact Canadian telecommunications networks. The Commission recognizes that many participants in the working group may not be able to work on BPWG activities as they are rightly focused on helping to ensure that telecommunications networks continue to function at peak efficiency to meet the unique and heavy demands placed on them at this time.

In these circumstances, the Commission considers that it would be appropriate to extend the deadline for the BPWG to file its report and marked up CLEC Model Tariff documents by six months.

The Commission, therefore, requests that the BPWG’s report and updated documents be filed by October 15, 2020.

Yours sincerely,
