RE: Request for an Extension of Time by the Commissioner of Competition – Telecom Notice of Consultation CRTC 2019-57, Review of mobile wireless services

Dear Madam, Sir:

The Commission is in receipt of a letter dated 20 September 2019 submitted by the Commissioner of Competition (the Commissioner), requesting, among other things, an extension to the filing deadlines set out in Review of wireless services, Telecom Notice of Consultation CRTC 2019-57.

The Commissioner submitted that, based on the experience of the Competition Bureau, he requires a minimum of 100 days to complete the econometric analyses that he intends to file as part of his further comments. The Commissioner submitted that, while he has been attempting to complete the analyses within the established deadlines, these would provide him with 75 days. In addition, the Commissioner estimates that he has expended approximately five days addressing deficient WSP responses to requests for information.

Accordingly, the Commissioner is requesting a thirty day extension to the deadline by which he must file his further comments from 23 October 2019 to 22 November 2019.

Parties who wish to provide their views on the Commissioner’s extension request are to file such responses with the Commission by 27 September 2019.

Yours sincerely,
