Commercial FM radio station in Georgina – Technical changes
- The Commission approves the application by Frank Torres, on behalf of a corporation to be incorporated, to change the authorized contours of its unlaunched FM radio programming undertaking in Georgina, Ontario, approved in Licensing of a new radio station to serve Georgina, Broadcasting Decision CRTC 2018-238, 11 July 2018 (Broadcasting Decision 2018-238), by increasing the average effective radiated power (ERP) from 6,780 to 8,804 watts (maximum ERP from 26,000 to 39,000 watts) and by decreasing the effective height of the antenna above average terrain from 56.1 to 41.6 meters. The Commission did not receive any interventions regarding this application.
- The licensee indicated that the location originally approved in Broadcasting Decision 2018-238 is no longer available, and that it has negotiated a new location with the landlord of the transmitter site.
- Pursuant to section 22(1) of the Broadcasting Act, this authority will only be effective when the Department of Industry notifies the Commission that its technical requirements have been met and that a broadcasting certificate will be issued.
- The licensee must implement the technical changes by no later than 18 October 2021. To request an extension, the licensee must submit a written request to the Commission at least 60 days before that date, using the form available on the Commission’s website.
