CKSB-10-FM Winnipeg and its transmitter CKSB-4-FM Flin Flon – Technical changes
- The Commission approves the application by the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation (CBC) to change the authorized contours of CKSB-4-FM Flin Flon, a rebroadcasting transmitter of the French-language radio programming undertaking CKSB-10-FM Winnipeg, Manitoba (ICI Radio-Canada Première), by changing the frequency from 99.9 MHz (channel 260A1) to 92.7 MHz (channel 224A), increasing the effective radiated power from 76 to 351 watts, decreasing the effective height of the antenna above average terrain from 63.5 to 30.5 metres, and updating the coordinates of the transmitter site. The Commission did not receive any interventions regarding this application.
- The CBC stated that the changes will permit it to combine its ICI Radio-Canada Première and Radio One services in Flin Flon and Creighton on a single antenna to optimize operating costs while ensuring quality service.
- Pursuant to section 22(1) of the Broadcasting Act, this authority will only be effective when the Department of Industry notifies the Commission that its technical requirements have been met and that a broadcasting certificate will be issued.
- The licensee must implement the technical changes by no later than 1 August 2021. To request an extension, the licensee must submit a written request to the Commission at least 60 days before that date, using the form available on the Commission’s website.
