CBHA-FM Halifax and its transmitter CBHY-FM Yarmouth – Technical changes
- The Commission approves the application by the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation (CBC) to change the authorized contours of CBHY-FM Yarmouth, a rebroadcasting transmitter of the English-language radio programming undertaking CBHA-FM Halifax, Nova Scotia (Radio One), by changing transmitter class from B to C1, increasing the maximum effective radiated power (ERP) from 94,300 to 100,000 watts, decreasing the average ERP from 38,600 to 38,107 watts, increasing the effective height of the antenna above average terrain from 145.5 to 186.2 metres, and updating the existing coordinates of the transmitter site. The Commission did not receive any interventions regarding this application.
- The CBC stated that the changes would permit it to combine its Radio One, ICI Musique and ICI Première services on a single antenna, thereby providing better coverage of Yarmouth and the surrounding area.
- Pursuant to section 22(1) of the Broadcasting Act, this authority will only be effective when the Department of Industry notifies the Commission that its technical requirements have been met and that a broadcasting certificate will be issued.
- The licensee must implement the technical changes by no later than 8 July 2021. To request an extension, the licensee must submit a written request to the Commission at least 60 days before that date, using the form available on the Commission’s website.
