Re: Report regarding the retail sales practices of Canada’s large telecommunications carriers, Telecom and Broadcasting Notice of Consultation CRTC 2018-246 – Request for extension to file costs applications
Dear Ms. Anderson-Kellett, Mr. Folino, Ms. McHugh, and Mr. Richman,
By letter dated 7 December 2018, the Deaf Wireless Canada Consultative Committee (DWCC), the Canadian Association of the Deaf-Association des Sourds du Canada (CAD-ASC), the Canadian National Society of the Deaf-Blind (CNSDB), and the Deafness Advocacy Association of Nova Scotia (DAANS) requested an extension to the timeline set out in section 65 of the Canadian Radio-Television and Telecommunications Commission Rules of Practice and Procedure relating to the filing of applications for final costs. Specifically, DWCC and CAD-ASC requested an extension of the deadline to 14 December 2018 and CNSDB and DAANS requested an extension of the deadline to 21 December 2018.
In their joint letter, the four groups submit that DWCC is preparing its own costs application while providing technical assistance to CNSDB, due to visual barriers with the costs application forms. The groups note that DAANS will be filing its costs application for the first time and needs DWCC’s guidance, in American Sign Language, with the forms. Finally, the groups submit that CAD-ASC has not completed its costs application due to unforeseen circumstances and needs slightly more time.
Having regard for the above and the relatively short extensions being requested, we are of the view that the request is reasonable. Therefore, DWCC’s and CAD-ASC’s costs applications deadline is extended to 14 December 2018 and CNSDB’s and DAANS’ costs applications deadline is extended to 21 December 2018.
A copy of this letter and all related correspondence will be added to the public record of the proceeding.
Sincerely,
Original signed by
