Dear Madam, Sir:

Subject: Report regarding the retail sales practices of Canada’s large telecommunications carriers: Telecom and Broadcasting Notice of Consultation RTC 2018- 246 – DWCC et al.’s Procedural Request: Extension to 18 October 2018

On 30 August 2018, the Deaf Wireless Canada Consultative Committee, Canadian Association of the Deaf, Canadian National Society of the Deaf-Blind, and Deafness Access Advocacy Nova Scotia (collectively “DWCC et al.”) requested an extension of time to file its report from a quadrilingual survey in English, French, ASL and LSQ to obtain the views and stories of Deaf, Deaf-Blind and Hard of Hearing (DDBHH) Canadians about aggressive or misleading sales practices that are related to accessibility and language barriers.

The Commission granted DWCC et al.’s request for an extension to file a report relating to the ASL and LSQ survey by no later than 12 October 2018.

On 11 October 2018, DWCC et al. requested that, in light of unforeseen circumstances beyond their control and a heavy workload, this filing date be extended to 18 October 2018.

In light of the importance of obtaining the views of Canadians with a disability as part of the above mentioned proceeding, the Commission hereby grants the requested extension to file the report from the DWCC et al.’s survey by no later than 18 October 2018.

The Commission notes that all parties may address this report during their presentation at the hearing beginning 22 October 2018 or in their final written replies.

Yours sincerely,
