Dear Ms. Anderson-Kellett and Ms. McHugh:
By letter dated 8 March 2018, the Deaf Wireless Canada Consultative Committee (DWCC) and the Canadian National Society of the Deaf-Blind (CNSDB) requested an extension to the timelines set out in Commission staff letter dated 26 February 2018 requesting further information regarding parties costs applications with respect to their participation in Telecom Notice of Consultation CRTC 2017-33, Review of the regulatory framework for text-based message relay services.
In their request, the DWCC and CNSDB note that its members have been extremely busy leading up to the deadline and are therefore unable to meet the deadline set out in the 26 February 2018 letter.
Commission staff is of the view that an extension request should not adversely affect any parties with respect to the costs application process and it ensures a fulsome record with respect to the costs applications filed by the DWCC and CNSDB. Having regard for the above and the relatively short extension being requested, Commission staff is of view the request is reasonable.
Therefore, the requested information from the DWCC and the CNSDB is to be filed with the Commission by 13 March 2018.
Any other interested party may file a response by 23 March 2018.
The DWCC and the CNSDB may reply to any comments by no later than 3 April 2018.
A copy of this letter and all related correspondence will be added to the public record of the proceeding.
