CJTK-FM Sudbury and its transmitter CJTK-FM-7 Englehart – Technical changes

  1. The Commission approves the application by Harvest Ministries Sudbury to change the authorized contours of CJTK-FM-7 Englehart, Ontario, a rebroadcasting transmitter of the English-language radio programming undertaking CJTK-FM Sudbury, Ontario, by decreasing the effective radiated power from 5,100 to 3,400 watts and the effective height of antenna above average terrain from 73.2 to 44.5 metres. The Commission did not receive any interventions regarding this application.
  2. According to the licensee, the authority for the transmitter in Englehart granted in CJTK-FM Sudbury – New transmitters in Iroquois Falls, Sault Ste. Marie, Englehart, New Liskeard, Sundridge and Spring Bay, Broadcasting Decision CRTC 2017-205, 19 June 2017, was not implemented because the tower could not withstand the weight of the antenna. As such, the licensee now proposes to use a lighter antenna with reduced contours.
  3. Pursuant to section 22(1) of the Broadcasting Act, the authority granted in this decision will only be effective when the Department of Industry notifies the Commission that its technical requirements have been met and that a broadcasting certificate will be issued.
  4. The transmitter must be in operation by 26 November 2020. To request an extension, the licensee must submit a written request to the Commission at least 60 days before that date, using the form available on the Commission’s website.
