CBJ-FM Chicoutimi and its transmitter CBJ-FM-4 L’Anse-Saint-Jean –Technical changes
- The Commission approves the application by the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation (CBC) to change the authorized contours of CBJ-FM-4 L’Anse-Saint-Jean, Quebec, a rebroadcasting transmitter of the French-language radio programming undertaking CBJ-FM Chicoutimi, Quebec (ICI Radio-Canada Première), by installing a new non-directional antenna, increasing the average effective radiated power (ERP) from 510 to 850 watts, decreasing the maximum ERP from 970 to 850 watts, decreasing the effective height of the antenna above average terrain from 224.8 to 194 metres and updating the existing coordinates. The Commission did not receive any interventions regarding this application.
- The CBC indicated that the requested technical changes would permit it to offer improved service to the population of L’Anse‑Saint‑Jean and surrounding areas.
- Pursuant to section 22(1) of the Broadcasting Act, this authority will only be effective when the Department of Industry notifies the Commission that its technical requirements have been met and that a broadcasting certificate will be issued.
- The licensee must implement the technical changes by no later than 15 October 2020. To request an extension, the licensee must submit a written request to the Commission at least 60 days before that date, using the form available on the Commission’s website.
